With a couple like Lauren & Kyle, I’m not really quite sure where to begin this blog. Their funky & fresh personalities were such a perfect match for their amazing wedding day in Cleveland.
I’ve had such a pleasure getting to know these two. They are so sweet, and so fun to be around, they practically breathe energy into the room when you’re with them.
With their wedding reception at the Cleveland House of Blues, I had the chance to create some beautiful wedding photography in one of their amazing hallways. The Making the Moment staff has an unspoken rivalry about who can create the best wedding image in the hallway at the House of Blues in Cleveland. 
I first met Lauren when she was the maid of honor at Megan’s wedding (the thumbed up awesometastic lady featured above). It was so sweet to see Megan and her husband Matt again… they are one of my very favorite wedding couples of all time.
Lauren was SO excited to open up her custom made broach wedding bouquet. It was put together by hand fusing together bits and pieces of Lauren’s life. 
I love being present in the morning as the day unfolds, it gives me such a great opportunity to get to know everyone involved in the wedding. In this case though, I knew most of the family and bridal party from Megan’s wedding last year. It was so fun to reconnect with everyone – I really enjoy the Venzel family and friends 🙂
I’m a huge fan of being a photojournalistic wedding photographer in Cleveland. Being a cleveland wedding photographer, I have a huge passion for story-telling.
The wedding happened at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Elyria. What a big beautiful historic church! I had so much fun capturing candid and meaningful images of the guests as they awaited Lauren and Kyle’s wedding.
Lauren told me later on that when she walked in the doors all she was thinking was “ok – focus – don’t cry – keep it together”. It is such a beautiful moment when a bride is unveiled to her friends and family. I love the reactions and little moments that happen in this important moment.
Lauren and Kyle’s wedding colors were gray and yellow (one of my favorite wedding color combinations). I absolutely loved how the natural light during their wedding ceremony at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Elyria showed off those colors. It was beautiful and reflective of their special day.
Woot woot! So happy for these two!
Their bubble filled exit after their wedding at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Elyria was filled with cheers and laughter from their friends and family. Such a fun way to start your married life!
So here’s a fun story 🙂 When Megan was married last year, I caught a completely awesome candid of Lauren mock-downing a bottle of champagne as we were about to enter their wedding reception. As a Photojournalistic wedding photographer in Cleveland, I live for moments like this. It has been such a staple to their family, that we did a little “reversed” recreation of the image in tribute to the fun of Megan’s wedding last year. I have them featured above – such a fun combo, and I’m hoping a tradition in the Venzel family weddings for years to come. I’m wondering if Matt will continue the trend?
Another fun photo recreation is featured above. The image on the iPhone I’m holding is a picture of the three Venzel siblings from their childhood. I asked them to stand in the same fashion as they did so many years ago so we could create a nifty and fun family keepsake for them.
I can’t tell you how much fun I have working with the Cleveland city-scape as a wedding photographer in Cleveland. There are so many wonderful architectural and historic details to our awesome city that I freak out over escorting couples and creating wedding artwork around town.
As the ladies were crossing the street, I captured a fun candid reminiscent of a certain Beatles album cover.
These two… just too darn cute. 
The bridal party wore converse shoes for their creative wedding photography in Cleveland. Converse wedding shoes are a fun new trend – comfy and cheap to get around in! 
I love being a fun wedding photographer in Cleveland. Too often it can be easy to get bored and stale with wedding photography, but as a modern wedding photographer in Cleveland I always have to push my creative boundaries. Awesome flowers courtesy of Creations by Lynn. 
As an artistic wedding photographer in Cleveland, I believe it’s my job to use imagery to share bits and pieces of who people are – not to just simply be another cleveland wedding photographer. Unique wedding photography happens when a wedding photographer thinks outside the box, and looks for ideas and inspiration as it comes.
This cute little animation from our creative wedding photography in Cleveland is a perfect representation of who Lauren and Kyle are. Full of laughter and full of fun – these two hold so much life.
I seriously had so much fun being their wedding photographer in Cleveland that day. I seriously wish they could get married again!!
We’ve shared it plenty of times, but one of our favorite venues for a wedding reception in Cleveland is the House of Blues. Being a wedding photographer at the House of Blues in Cleveland is such a distinct honor and privilege – it’s a fun venue full of such character and style.
Their wedding reception at the House of Blues in Cleveland started off with a ban as the bridal party entered. Each couple was dressed representing different parts of Cleveland sports history. It was totally fun.
Touching moments here – during Lauren’s father / daughter dance, they orchestrated a moment for Lauren to dance with her mother. So special – there were quite a few tearful eyes around me as I photographed this special moment between Lauren and Sue.
The speeches at this wedding reception at the Cleveland House of Blues were awesome and memorable. Lauren’s father’s toast was not only meaningful, but also paid homage to some inside jokes from Megan’s wedding last year. 
What’s the best part about a wedding reception at the House of Blues in Cleveland? The party. Hosted by Selective Sound (one of our favorite Cleveland wedding DJ’s) the party rocked it’s way through the night.
I absolutely love wedding receptions at the Cleveland House of Blues. Because it’s a concert venue, people naturally gravitate towards the dance floor. With stage lights going, and the sound system booming, it’s like nothing else.
I always love the random party lines that form 🙂
Check out Kyle jumping from the stage above. My favorite part of this image isn’t just that I caught this spontaneous stage jump, but I love his new wife’s face. LOL – priceless. 
Seriously – it was such a party. 
This was really fun to make happen. I took some time and did some light painting (those letters are hand drawn by flashlights) with long exposures. I crawled up through the stage areas to make this happen, but the effect is so neat.
I love experimenting with photography. I think it’ so important to push yourself artistically as a creative wedding photographer in cleveland. I never want to stagnate, I always want to be pushing the envelope for our clients and for the art.
