Best.Day.Ever.

By March 11, 2014January 10th, 2018photos, Wedding

My daughter Pearl watches Disney’s “Rapunzel” over and over and over again. I think I’ve nearly got the movie memorized – it’s played in our home at least 10 times a week. There is this line that Rapunzel yells out excitedly in the middle of the film – “Best.Day.Ever!!”. When I hear it, I think to myself that a couple should feel that exact way about their wedding day. I’m pretty sure these two did ๐Ÿ™‚

… and I might be tempted to yell out “Best. Dress. Shot. EVER.” here! For real – I’m superbly proud of this one. Thank you times a billion to wedding coordinator extra-ordinaire Maria Kovacevich for helping me hang this off their balcony – and thank you Maria & Niki for trusting me here!

Check out Niki on the balcony – as I was photographing her dress she stepped out on the balcony to enjoy the morning breeze a bit. Pretty spiffy eh?

Dang. Gosh-Dang even. That’s a big freaking foyer. Pardon my dropping of the F-bomb here, but for real – Niki and Goran have a pretty swanky place.

Niki is brilliantly beautiful. She dressed in the library in her and Goran’s home, and I candidly snapped away as the excitement built. She was SO excited to get her dress on – I loved her smiles and laughter as her mom helped lace her up.

I love the above black and white of Savanah (Goran’s daughter) – you can tell she’s so excited for her father to marry this beautiful woman. It was sweet to see these two throughout the day, I could tell that Niki and Savanah had become close friends, and were all becoming a family together.

In the above – Niki’s daughter Abby is helping dress her mom. How cute is that? She’s putting her mom’s shoes on! Moments like these happen once – but mean so much.

Wedding at St. Sava Cleveland

Pretty lights ๐Ÿ™‚ I must have been a bit fixated on the lighting fixtures that day – but both Niki’s house, and their church (St Sava’s) had the most brilliant chandeliers. I love the picture above too – Goran is seeing his bride for the first time – I love the expression on his face. It’s like he’s saying “Dang. You look good. Gosh Dang Good”.

Wedding at St. Sava Cleveland

With their wedding at St. Sava, you have to know it’s a serbian orthodox ceremony – hence the crowns. I LOVE the tradition and feel of these weddings. I also love that their version of a best man walks them out of the church and throws candy for the kids. I nearly dropped my camera and ran for the baby-ruths being flung everywhere. Had there been twix bars this image wouldn’t have been captured.

Creative Wedding Photographer in Cleveland

Their creative wedding photography session around cleveland was awesome. We had a great time. Niki told me during our planning meetings that she trusted me completely – and that she loved my architecturally based work. I took them to some cool locations that I scouted that I know would work just perfectly for them.

Yes. I’m a dork. I just love stuff like this ๐Ÿ™‚

Work it girl. Confession time: I’ve never really said that during a photo-shoot. I’ve always wanted to yell it out though – and just see what happens. I might do it this coming year, but I don’t really know what it means. I’m not sure what is being worked and to what end that would benefit the photo. So there’s that.

Work it girl. (see above paragraph for reference as to why I would say that.)

City Hall Rotunda Wedding Reception

Oh gosh dang. Gosh dang it all to heck. The city-hall rotunda is freaking amazing. Seriously – the elegance of the stone pillars and old-world streetlamps make it one of my favorite places for a cleveland wedding reception. Kudos to A Taste of Excellence Catering for making it a tasty evening!

City Hall Rotunda Wedding Reception

Neil Leeson is one of my favorite florists in the cleveland area. Do you see how awesome that floral arrangement is? You know what makes him even cooler? I’m pretty sure he saved my butt later in the night as I nearly dropped a $3000 lens out of my hand and he caught it right before it hit the floor. And that’s why you hire a good florist: They save your photographer from ruining his life.

GAHHHH… White Flower Cake why must you tempt me with such beautiful creations? Seriously. Awesome looking – awesome tasting.

And then Eli @ Rock the House turned the City Hall Rotunda into the City Hall Ro-FUN-da. Yup. See what I just did there? And below? City Hall BRO-tunda.
