I’m pretty sure I can sum up this entire blog post in a few short statements;
I ♥ couples. I ♥ sunny days. I ♥ the house of blues. I ♥ cleveland. I ♥ this wedding.
I also ♥ the cool blue hallway at the House of Blues in Cleveland. It’s one of my favorite places to experiment my artwork with. Our team loves this hallway too – and we’re always trying to “one-up” each other.
And I also ♥ Bre and all of her awesome bridesmaids – they were SO fun.
I do ♥ me some cool detail shots too – I FREAKING LOVE Bre’s shoes. I don’t think I can quite pull them off – but rainbow sparkly wedding shoes are the bomb.
Two of my very favorite images are above – I love the power of the candid image – I caught Bre’s mom giving her a quick kiss on the head in a mirror as she was getting ready. It was quick – and I think it’s easy to miss these images, but I think it’s important part of telling story through wedding photography.
The girls were so fun all morning – I really loved laughing with them.
Yes. I also love “How I met your mother” – and totally loved Eric’s custom cuff links. I had one of the groomsmen right out the “Wait for it part” – so awesome.
I love the power of black and white imagery – you can say so much with less information sometimes.
Bre’s mom totally adores her.
And how could you not? Bre is awesome – she’s a strikingly beautiful woman – I LOVE this image of her we photographed at the Hyatt Arcade. We did this right before we went out to see Eric for their first look.
It was a really powerful private introduction / first look for them too – Eric wept. It was awesome.
I think it’s really cool too to see this happen too, I love it when men aren’t afraid to show their feelings.
What’s cool about it is you can totally see how much he loves her. I seriously think first looks are some of the coolest things a couple can do on their wedding day. You really get some private time together (surprisingly rare on your wedding day – your’e almost never alone with each other). I was about a hundred feet away too (crazy enough – gotta love telephoto lenses!) just to make sure they had that extra layer of privacy.
Seriously – Bre’s shoes. Dang. Those are so sparkly cool.
I love the architecture and lines in this image – they draw you right to her.
Bre’s a positive and sweet woman – you get that sense in this image – she’s just awesome to be around.
GAAH! I love having fun with bridal parties. Too often photographers get so freaking stiff. Images of a group of friends don’t have to always be so formal. Our friendships are born from laughter and joy – the images should represent that authentically and accurately.
Bre had the girls have a colorful mix of bridesmaids dresses – it was AWESOME. It fits her taste too so well – and goes great with her shoes.
I also have a soft spot for reflection images 🙂
I’m a huge fan of our city – and when you have a wedding reception downtown, you have got to show off the cleveland skyline – it’s super pretty on a sunny day.
I worked hard to make sure Eric’s solo images matched up with Bre’s – that way the set had a sense of completion to it. I want them to display them on their walls together – I like to think of albums and wall artwork when I photograph. Many photographers don’t think of the “end display” method when they’re working – but you really have to have a goal in mind.
Dudes.
I had so much fun on the limo with them too – this bridal party was so much fun!!
he Cleveland House of Blues. one of my favorite wedding and wedding reception venues in Cleveland.
These two had a short ceremony on the stage at the House of Blues.
Seriously – Making the Moment photographs so much at the House of Blues that we know most of the staff by first name – it’s such a funky little venue. It’s super tricky to photograph their too – the lighting is crazy – but we’ve gotten really really good at it.
What a cool vibe this place has.
Seriously. Having your head table up on the same stage that famous music artists have performed on is pretty freaking cool. I can only imagine (or google) who all has been on this very stage.
The party was intense. None other than Jeff Kutz of Rock the House was our emcee that night. He helped organize a stage dive for these two (a dream of theirs!) and it was awesome. We work with Rock the House a lot – one of our favorite cleveland wedding DJs – and Jeff rocked it that night.
Seriously. Amaze-balls party. That’s how it is at the House of Blues – it’s always amazing.
Eric. Bre. I ♥ you guys 🙂
