I can’t help but adore non-traditional weddings. A non-traditional wedding excites my curiosity because it expresses the couple is intentionally trying to communicate something important to them … something to be known in a way that a traditional wedding doesn’t fit.
Lauren and Justin were married under a gorgeous tree with blue skies above and marble beneath their feet.
He bought and surprised her with this beautiful champagne-colored dress the night he proposed to her.
His well-tailored, blue-gray suit fit him perfectly, with every detail thoughtfully designed and picked out.
There were no guests. Isn’t that unique? Only the officiant, myself, and my assistant were present to witness their beautifully personal ceremony.
There was a lot of emotion. Justin’s calm confidence, and the way he adored her, wonderfully complimented Lauren’s spontaneous and contagious excitement.
I adored the intimacy of their private ceremony. Distractions were absent.
And her bouquet … I mean come. on. Her flowers are gorgeous. Lauren literally hand picked and cut them herself, en route to the ceremony.
Post-ceremony we settled into a whimsical setting where vines cloaked the ground under a giant tree.
Lauren and Justin were comfortable in front of the camera.
Their focus on each other was greater than their attention to my lens.
While we were walking to our vehicles to drive to the next location, Lauren did not hesitate to share with the world “We’re married!” and celebrated with those we encountered.
Crop Bistro, their favorite restaurant and bar, was our final and perfect location to end their wedding day with.
It was at this table, a year and a half ago, he had a box waiting for her to open, with a champagne dress inside. It was at this table, the day before their 5 year anniversary, he proposed to her.
I adored how they created their wedding day to be personal, meaningful, and symbolic in a way that made sense to their relationship. I can only imagine how much more they experienced that I couldn’t see, but what I did see I captured, and am now sharing with you.
