The Art and Story of Jessica + Richard
I recognize that the term “Fire”🔥 is overused in our culture [ and I’m sure in Making the Moment’s Blog and Insta ], but it absolutely applies here. Why you ask? Welp, Richard is a super hotty Fire-Fighter, and while Jessica has an amazing career in marketing there wasn’t really a great pun that would apply for her professional resume, and so I went with the more obvious career / relationship related pun as a clever way to introduce you to this amazing couple.
Jessica and Richard are more than their professions though; they are one of my favorite couples this year [ I wont’ say WHO is my favorite, but they’re in the running ]. When we met together this spring to talk about their wedding photography, I felt instantly connected with both of them and knew we’d be fast friends.
They are endearing as a couple! I was instantly drawn in when I met them, and I knew they’d be fun to photograph and create with.
They are 100% naturals too; every couple works different and needs different attention and guidance from me as a photographer, but they are through and through themselves in every photograph.

That’s right. Every word you’ve read on this page so far regarding this wonderful wedding [ catch the alliteration there. Pretty brilliant, right? ] has all been word-smithed and crafted by us [ we’re not only gifted wedding photographers, but also not too shabby in the content writing department ] Humble Brag / Self enthusiasm aside; we mean every word on this page, but it’s important that you hear from our couple too.
We asked a few questions of them about their wedding; and hope you enjoy their answers 😀
What did you love about your engagement session?
My favorite part was how much fun we had and how comfortable we felt during the session!
How did you pick your outfits for your session?
We went with what the groom normally wear and feels comfortable in, and I wore a dress that is the color of the wedding [and Richard’s favorite dress of mine]
What was it like to work with us?
Great! Very accepting and supportive of us acting like ourselves and encouraging as we pretended to be models
What are you most excited about for your wedding?
Getting married to my best friend and partying with our favorite people!
If you could describe your partner’s performance during the session in a few short sentences or phrases, how would you do so?
- Jessica: I thought he did amazing and broke out of his shell a bit. I had so so much fun with him during our shoot, felt like we were on a date
- Richard: She was her regular ol’ fun-loving, smiling, karate chopping, poking and prodding self, managing to make me smile, relax, and enjoy every moment!
Where will your wedding reception be, and why did you select your venue?
Haymaker’s Mill. We selected our venue, one it was available hahah. Two, we enjoy the rustic barn feel with a modern touch and the beautiful landscaping. Three, because it’s also the location between where our families are from.
It was a beautiful summer evening for their engagement session at the Cleveland metro parks near Rocky River, and we had an amazing summer sky. I just had to use it as one of the motif’s of their engagement session photography.
You can see they’re class 5 cuddlers too. This is a very specific type of cuddler as defined in my cuddler-dex. I’m sorry 🤦♂️ I’m a big dork and as I wrote this I thought it would be hilarious and sound pseudo-scientific but it just sounds AAF but I’m going to leave it here for random internet readers to enjoy and find later.
Back on track; They laugh easy. I have a PRETTY decent sense of humor [ humble brag ] and as we quipped back and forth they laughed so much it made for some wonderfully fun photography.
Of course, no engagement session photography would be complete without an ultra cool unique piece of artwork. While a majority of their images are fun, candid and honest couple’s photography, I always like to try something unique in my session photography.
They are just SO freakin’ cute; flirting even as they walked the session with me 🤣
If you read the couple’s interview above, you would have noted that Richard talked about Jessica’s Karate chops [ which did make an appearance during our session 🥋 ]
I adore them, and I can’t wait to be their wedding photographer later this year!
