I’m pretty sure this day had it all. I mean – legitametly. Beautiful Bride, Mansome Groom, 28 person bridal party, a band, an accordian, a giant deer that wanted to kill me, great speeches, 450+ guest list, a guy chasing me around on the dance floor secretly grinding me (yes, that’s fo real), and another band.
Oh yeah, and some killer photography too ๐
I totally dug Nicole’s awesome veil. We took some time and had some fun with it.
This is Nicole and Bepo. They are strong, kind, bold and elegant folks. Their wedding photography screams it. Good photography shows who you are – it tells your story.
They’re friends of mine too – I like them a lot.
OOH. Yeah – remember that gigantic deer that I mentioned earlier that wanted to kill me? He was PISSED at me for some reason. I found him in their backyard munching in the garden as I was preparing to photograph Nicole’s Dress. He was about 10 feet away from me, and literally STARED me down and huffed at me a few times. I nearly peed my pants. I hid inside like a man-child for a few minutes until I saw him leave the area.
I found this in Nicole’s house from her bachelor party. Very interesting wine opener.
I LOVE these candids of Nicole and her ladies dressing her. Such fun times.
Seriously. Nicole. You are super beautiful! Yay!
Nicole and Bepo had a cool collision of nationalities – Bepo’s family is croatian, and had this really cool tradition of having a band play outside of their home while she came out. It was freaking awesome.
It felt like a fun family backyard party / reunion. I spied a certain deer a few yards off eyeing me angrily.
Nicole came out and literally wowed everyone with her awesomeness. For real – she pulls off her mermaid dress awesome – I dig.
Candid wedding photography is my very favorite. I love how easily in the two images above you can see the story and joy of the moment.
These two got hitched at St. Pauls Croatian church in Cleveland. It’s a beautiful old-world church with tons of architecture and character.
Again, I LOVE candid / photojournalistic wedding photography. It shows people off-guard – not worrying about themselves. It helps people shine through the self-consciousness of a lens pointing at them.
Nicole coming down the aisle. Magic moment.
I love seeing Nicole’s father here. I have a litte girl now (Pearl – check her out here!) and somedow dream of walking her down the ailse too. So fun seeing a father do this for his little girl.
I love this church.
Out front, in front of a few hundred people Nicole and Bepo made their exit.
I love the symbolism of the two flags of their families / histories coming together.
These two gave me two things I ask of every couple – Time & Trust.
Time provides me the oppurutnity to relax – and for my couples to relax. I love taking it easy and seeing what images we find as we stroll and laugh through a creative wedding photography session.
Trust provides me the creative freedom and authority to experiment. When a couple trusts me as their wedding photographer, I know that I have room to breathe – and to whimsically see what happens. I have room to fail – and room to fail provides me room to succeed.
We hand tone our images here – a part of the image craft that has taken us years to master. I especially love the depth we’ve found in our black and whites lately.
Yes – 28 person bridal party ๐ I LOVE big groups – and I enjoy finding ways to bring the energy out in them.
Especially all 15 guys!
But there is only one Nicole – and she rocks ๐
I enjoy lines and architecture in my imagery.
I also like silhouettes. And Darth Vader cuff links.
Blurry images often means I delete them. Sometimes though there is magic in the undefined.
I still love my polaroids too – I have a love / hate relationship with all things analog, and love the unpredictable nature of a plastic camera.
all 450 of their guests celebrated alongside these two that night.
Nicole’s sisters speech. Words can’t describe – they literally wrote their sister a rap about their childhood and performed it live on stage. Legen (wait for it)
Dary.
Oh yeah – and see that guy on the lower right – thats the guy who was following me around randomly and grinding on me here and there.
