Image of the Year ’23 Has Come to a Close
But We’re Not Done Celebrating Yet!
Presenting This Year’s Honorable Mentions
Ahhhh Image of the Year. Our annual tradition of celebrating the best of the best of all of the artwork we’ve produced over the past year. It’s a time for reflection, for gratitude, acknowledgment, and of course, some hard core competition! [ We can’t lie, we’re kind of competitive. This may be our favorite part of the year ]
The thing is, though, we can only include so many images in the competition itself [ this year we had 89 entries in Round 1 and 20 in Round 2 ], and it’s a real shame because we LOVE what we do and we think there are plenty of images that still deserve a shout out, even if they aren’t part of the official event. Hence, the Honorable Mentions!
2023 brought with it plenty of weddings, but also engagement sessions! And our couples really made a statement.
One of those statements was “Here, let me lick your face”
We saw lots of bro love.
And of course lots of couple love 🥰
One of the best parts of capturing true authentic wedding photography is these moments 🤣 But seriously; Jess and Jake [ the happily married couple above ] are going to look back at this image and laugh every time [ and probably debate whatever it was that Jake was doing saying to illicit such a reaction 😜]
We captured lots of sweet and tender moments, too!
Like this beachfront Cleveland engagement session – who knew the shores of Lake Erie could look like this?!
Of course it’s the people that make the image shine 🌟
Especially when it’s the bride crowd surfing at her reception!
Is that the same bride?? Yes. Yes it is.
Lots of bottles of celebratory champagne were popped in 2023…
And some couples took a yoga break during their session 🧘 [ Fun fact, this is Emma from our team! Because we’re super ethical humans here at Making the Moment, she doesn’t participate in Image of the Year. But she does love yoga! ]
This guy isn’t doing yoga, but he is nailing it with the Dance Floor Facial Expressions!
Iconic Making The Moment right here. We can’t help it, we just love a breathtakingly beautiful big bountiful blue sky [ also we’re fans of alliteration ]
We watched the evolution of our couples from the beginning of their wedding day to the end of the night. Take a look below to see what I’m talking about!
It’s no secret: we LOVE capturing a candid wedding photograph and making it black + white. So timeless, so beautiful, so genuine.
And then sometimes black + white makes a wedding photograph stand out in a different way! Still timeless, still beautiful, definitely still genuine.
See? We just can’t resist.
We also take every opportunity to do something unique and creative with our couples. No cookie cutter wedding photography here!
How can you look at this image and not smile??
We photographed so many Indian Weddings in Cleveland this year! It’s one of our favorite things to capture. We even have a whole webpage dedicated to our Indian Wedding Photography!
People can say what they want, but our city is awesome and we love celebrating the home of our couples in their Cleveland engagement and wedding photography.
THE VEIL MOMENTS THOUGH.
Art. We make art. Your wedding photography doesn’t have to be boring; wedding photography is ART.
Also we work with badass couples [ there’s really no other word for it! ]
Bro love is cool, but they’ve got nothing on the bride squad.
It’s pretty amazing to capture the best day [ and moments ] of people’s lives. Does it get better than this??
Yes; we believe the typical church formal wedding photographs are important. As are the non-typical church formal wedding photographs.
So much love! So many *awww* moments 🥹
And then there’s this 🤣
We love candids; especially when we catch a bride enjoying a sammich’ on a wedding day
Is Surabhi an intense dancer? Maybe. Is she PSYCHED for an awesome Indian wedding reception? Definitely. See what we mean by checking out her and Ransika’s wedding blog here!
Seriously, this year’s Image of the Year competition was awesome because our couples are awesome! Curious about the winner? Check out this post.
The team created amazing artwork and we can’t wait to see what 2024 brings us. Hopefully more super fun wedding parties with guys who can jump really high on command.
Oh and we love dogs 🐶
