There. I said it. It’s done. I want to be greek πŸ™‚

Or at the very least celebrate and love the way Angela and Shaun’s family do. This day was just so much fun. Yes, every wedding day is fun – but this one? Over the freaking top. Just wait until I get to the part where Angela’s father is making it rain on the dance floor.

Fun starts here. Shaun’s brothers. They are the epitome of brothers. They spent the morning pulling pranks on Shaun. That’s what good brothers do folks.

Some of those pranks I heavily encouraged. This one specifically, where they wrote shaun’s cell phone number into the back of the hotel telephone with some tips on why Shaun might be a good person to call. There was this great moment where I got to relive my days of being a little brother πŸ™‚

And what do you do when you have a balcony? You take the hotel furniture out and build a reading porch.

The opposite of the men’s shenanigans were the ladies’ class.

It’s true – not to do dog the men, but ladies tend to have very different mornings then men do. Not just in content or custom (hair dressing, nails, etc), but also in the way the morning “feels”.

There is something very “real” about the moment a bride puts on her dress. I often sense the tone and pace of the morning changes at this point.

I love the “team” effort it takes for a lady to get dressed. I wish the men did this – that would be freaking hilarious. Could you imagine a bunch of groomsmen trying to dress a groom in a tux?

Angela’s father seeing Angela for the first time on the wedding day. I greatly look forward to this moment with my girls someday.

For real – Stavros loves his daughters – I could see it throughout the entire day.

I think that one of the most important things I can do as a wedding photographer is to be “aware”. For many photographers, It’s all to easy to get into the habit of just shooting the “essentials” during a wedding ceremony. Seeing subtle details and moments is incredibly important in the way we tell story here.

Whether you’re religious or not – it’s amazing to think about the effort and time that goes into the artwork of churches. That had to take (at least) an hour.

Right after the ceremony is such a great time to capture candids of guests and friends. It’s also a great time to try pretend I have a secret agent headset.

I love how much fun the ladies are having. The men are super duper seriousness faces.

LaCentre Westlake Wedding Reception

LaCentre for the win people πŸ™‚ The room set up was epic. We photograph weddings and receptions at LaCentre a lot – it’s right down the street from our office. I love how unique the venue is every time we photograph there. The rooms are just so customizable.

in early 2014 I chose to not eat wedding cakes any longer – they are the bane of my existence. I do not want to be a fatty wedding photographer. And then in this cake and I squared off and it forced me to eat it’s luscious cakeness. It’s cool though – it turns out it was vanilla and we all know that’s healthy cake.

Angela’s sisters speeches were great – especially when her little brother chimed in here and there.

One of my favorite things about greek wedding receptions is the crazy money fun-time festival. I don’t believe that’s the official term for the tradition, but basically everyone comes out and throws tons of cash at the newlyweds. I have to balance my time carefully here so that I maximize both my photographic efforts and how much money I can scoop off the floor and into my camera bags. (kidding people – kidding. I would never take money off the floor. I have my assistant do it.)

But for real – I’m totally kidding. It is (however) pretty fun to watch the catering staff find inventive ways to pick up the money off the floor without looking awkward. My favorite method is the giant push broom.

I LOVE these people. Angela and Shaun typically stop by the office here and there and our team celebrates when they walk in. They’re great people – we love them and their families super much. I’m so happy for their love – and freaking proud of their image set.
