One of the weddings I have been most excited about sharing on our blog is the wedding of Robynn & Dean, and I’m so proud to finally present to you all some of my very favorite images from their wedding in Akron.
See these two above? That’s them. Completely in love, and completely fun to be around.
What is Spong? It’s their last name 🙂 I had some fun with Robynn’s bracelet that morning.
Speaking of fun? Their wedding party? Super duper fun. Yes. I just used super duper.
I LOVE Robynn’s flowers, perfectly fitting with her cranberry hued wedding – put together by Country Side Florists. 
I loved the guys – they were so full of character. I got to spend some time with them that morning as I bounced back and forth between them and the ladies for photojournalistic wedding photography coverage of their morning. I really love candid wedding imagery – it just encapsulates and holds so much story so easily.
Robynn’s dress? Freaking amazing. I love funky dress shots – a wedding dress is an important component to the wedding day and ought to get some special treatment from your wedding photographer.
This is story telling. Modern wedding photography is so much more than a few simple snapshots of a bride and groom kissing, I believe it’s an opportunity to tell story and preserve the integrity of memory. All four images above are some of my very favorite candid wedding photos from Robynn & Dean’s wedding day.
I love when a bride comes down the aisle – and Robynn’s entrance was so special. I had enough time to capture her excited and nervous glances around, as well as Dean’s reaction as she neared him. These are priceless moments, and I LOVE capturing them.
Robynn and Dean had their wedding at First United Methodist Church in Cuyahoga Falls – it’s an open and elegant church full of light – fun for any wedding photographer to enjoy.
I’m pretty sure Dean would have loved having his own bouquet 🙂
I’m not a traditional wedding photographer, but rather a modern wedding artists. That doesn’t mean that elegance doesn’t come into play in the form of a striking and dynamic image – especially when Robynn has the dress and the look to pull this kind of thing off.
I like wide angles and wide shots. Close-ups have their place in my wedding photography too – but I really enjoy pushing the envelopes of “white space”. Perhaps its my graphic design background, but I just love the simplicity of a good wide angle shot.
We were having fun, crafting some really fun wedding photography around Cuyahoga Falls when I saw this image come together. The real laughter in this image comes from the ladies… well laughing 🙂 I don’t “pose people” or force them into a framework. This kind of natural expression doesn’t happen from a wedding photographer saying “now laugh!” – happens when you laugh with your wedding photographer. 
I like lines in wedding photography. I LOVE lines in wedding photography.
I also like structure and the juxtaposition of organic people on man made materials. I think these things naturally contrast each other and help make the message of an image that much easier to understand.
And I love fun wedding photography.
I especially love a bridal party who isn’t afraid to have a little random dance party with me 🙂
This was my first time photographing a wedding reception atGreystone Hall in Akron. It’s an awesome wedding reception venue in Akron, I was really floored by it actually.
It’s an old “greystone” in the center of the city, part luxury apartments, and part elegant event venue. It is not your typical wedding reception venue in Akron, it has a ton of character. Ornate lighting, beautifully sculpted ceiling artwork, and an old-school bar give the place a feel of something right out of the Great Gatsby.
With a large open stage area (perfect for a head table) at the end of the room, there is a real sense of bravado by having a wedding reception at Greystone Hall in Akron.
I love speeches at receptions. Especially well planned out ones where the toaster took the time to think through how they wanted to honor the couple. One of my favorites from all of last year was Robynn’s father who gave a touching toast to his daughter and new son-in-law. It was heartfelt, and really made me think of what my speech would look like at my daughter’s wedding.
During their first dance, I timed it just right so I could run upstairs and get this really beautiful image from afar.
And then the dance floor flooded! It was awesome – the entire night was a pure celebration. 
Not only was it my first time at Greystone Hall, it was also my first time working with Brian at Blueprint Entertainment. He did an awesome job and kept the reception at Greystone Hall kicking all night.
Ring shots are one of one of my very favorite parts of being a wedding photographer. I usually devote a solid 20 minutes to crafting my artsy ring shots for our clientele.
I think every wedding ring shot should be unique – just like the couple I’m photographing.
