Smiley faces. That’s what my brain does when I think of how much fun these two are to be around. Being round the two means you’ll feel right at home. They’re not just another bride and groom – they’re a funky fun couple that knows how to make me laugh.
Yup – that’s them. Me likey.
Mary Kate’s shoes say it all – super non-traditional – they totally match up with her spunky personality. I loved the fierce color and texture of the shiny and sparkly things adhered to them.
I freaking love candids. Candid images are how your wedding images tell story – rather than feel like a bunch of posey pose images. True candids hold and preserve story, better than any posed image can.
It’s the real laughs and joy of a wedding day. I went to school for photography – and many of my photographer professors try to teach how to manufacture an image (boo!). My favorite teachers helped me understand how to cultivate trust with my subjects, and how to be a prepared observer more than anything.
One thing being a wedding photographer has taught me about about photography is that the BEST images are the ones that just happen – and that you’re prepared to capture. [High-Five]
Mary-Kate’s parents love each other very much. I caught them holding hands while watching Mary-Kate finish getting dressed. Seriously – I LOVE real moments like that – and I love parents who still are in love.
I LOVE Ed’s face as he sees his bride come down the aisle for the first time at St Colemans!
This is one of my favorite captures of the day – the two had just been pronounced husband and wife – look at their joy as the leave the church!
We took some time there-after at a small bar on east fourth so the bridal party could just relax (and drink). Many photographers freak out and make the rest of an afternoon a photo-crazed nutty time – I think it’s fun to make sure people actually enjoy their time with their friends (and their new spouse).
Check out these dapper gentleman. Oh. Here’s the part where when I write blog entries I like to see if people are really reading the words or just looking at the pretty pictures. So – if you’re reading this – leave a comment that says something like “Brett, I LOVE that picture with the squirrel handing out peanuts – that’s the best”.
And then I’ll respond and be like “hell yeah – squirrels are the freaking best peanut hander outers ever”. Not only will it be funny because no one will know what the hell we’re talking about, but it’s even funnier because a squirrel would TOTALLY eat all the peanuts itself because it’s a selfish little jerk.
I like wide angle images – I think sometime we can use the elements around people to help form an image.
AHhh !!! I love this – thanks to my assistant Ben for helping me make this magic happen 🙂
YAY for lego people cake toppers! With their wedding reception at Windows on the River, you knew we were in for an AWESOME night!
Wow. It was luxurious when you walked into their room. I love how a reception venue looks when you walk in for the first time – there’s something really special about it, and what it says about the couple behind the presentation.
Ok – so not only were there some awesome speeches that night, but there were some cool people too. One cool person (lower right image above this text) is Kate. You might remember her from this wedding right here. Kate was cool enough to introduce me to Mary Kate and Ed after we photographed her wedding years ago. That’s the best – I love how our clients keep passing on the good word!
Double-fisting!!! Mary Kate is one awesome and fun bride.
I love the group above in the black and white – they were hilarious and fun all night on the dance floor.
We’re well known for our crazy cool ring shots here at Making the Moment… and I love their rings. Pretty sweet idea – engraving your date on your man’s wedding band! No excuses Ed – you can never say you forgot your anniversary 🙂
Friends – I wish you the best. Many years and cheers to you both – thank you for letting me a part of your story!
