Welcome to the engagement session of Julia + Ben, a free-spirited, adorable, super silly couple who made our time together a BLAST! It’s the best when our clients make our jobs so fun. We laughed, we joked, we made stunning artwork, we dreamt of van-life and adventure… Woah let’s rein it in before I get lost in the daydream 😅 But seriously, just wait til you see these images. Julia + Ben’s personalities [ and love for each other ] really shine like the sun ☀️
Speaking of the sun, can we just talk about this light for a second?? Everyone raves about golden hour for a reason. The summer sun was just about to set over the Lake Erie horizon when we traveled to Edgewater for the second half of the session, and boy was it spectacular. Good thing Julia + Ben are as attractive as they are; as stunning as the sunset was, it couldn’t take the spotlight away from these two 💛
This might be an iconic Making the Moment style image: the couple framed beautifully among a clear blue sky. The vastness, the mysteriousness, the possibilities [ Are they floating? Are they on top of a mountain? Are they walking on water? ] We will never know for sure.
One thing that is sure: these two know how to make each other laugh 😃
Every smile you see in these image is genuine. Ben and I were both cracking jokes left and right and it made for a super fun time!

In Their Own Words.
That’s right. Every word you’ve read on this page so far regarding this wonderful wedding [ catch the alliteration there. Pretty brilliant, right? ] has all been word-smithed and crafted by us [ we’re not only gifted wedding photographers, but also not too shabby in the content writing department ] Humble Brag / Self enthusiasm aside; we mean every word on this page, but it’s important that you hear from our couple too.
We asked a few questions of them about their wedding; and hope you enjoy their answers 😀
What was one of your favorite parts of your session?
Julia: Shooting at Edgewater! We had a good time at the flats too, but by the time we got to Edgewater, I really felt like we got into a groove and had a blast. The weather was perfect, so that definitely helped.
Ben: Julia and I like to joke around constantly, so it’s kinda what we do. We like to have fun.
How did you pick your outfits for your session?
Julia: Ben and I both really like each other in blue, so that was a bit of a no brainer for the first location. For Edgewater, we wanted to be a bit more casual and we picked each other’s outfits.
Ben: I got a new shirt from target that we both liked. And changed shoes and shirt for the more casual look.
What was it like to work with us?
Julia: Brett and Emma were a blast to work with! They were really helpful beforehand with the planning and sent a ton of tips. During the session, Brett made it easy to be candid and the session flew by. It was great working with Emma as well, I had a good time talking about the weddings and our shared interests. We left the session raving about how much fun we had and can’t wait for the wedding.
Ben: It was very laid back and fun. Genuine conversations while getting the photos taken.
What are you most excited about for your wedding?
Julia: I’m excited to see it come together and just celebrate the weekend with all of our closest friends and family. We’re all spread out in Ohio, Maryland, and Pennsylvania, so it’ll be really nice to celebrate with everyone at once.
Ben: Seeing my future wife smile in her wedding dress. Also just excited to spend a great time with friends and family
If you could describe your partner’s performance during the session in a few short sentences or phrases, how would you do so?
Julia: Ben’s super comfortable in his own skin. He had no issue being silly or playful during the shoot and made it easy to relax and go with the flow.
Ben: Beautiful, a bit nervous, but tender and loving.
Where will your wedding reception be, and why did you select your venue?
Julia: The reception will be at the arcade downtown! I’ve always loved the architecture growing up and it was one of the first places I showed Ben when we were first moving back to Cleveland. When we first got engaged, both of our minds immediately went there.
Ben: We are gonna be at the Cleveland Hyatt Arcade. There’s a kinda funny story as for why we chose it. It has a regal feel to it.
Do you have a favorite image or two that really connects with your heart? Why?
Julia: My favorite so far is the one in Edgewater with the leaves all around us (attached). It was fun to shoot and I love the expressions on our faces. It’ll be one we frame for sure!
Ben: I really like the photo in the tree we were having fun. I also really like the one where I embrace Julia from behind with a soft smile on my face.
Shoutout to Edgewater Park and Lake Erie for all this incredible scenery! It really set the stage for Julia + Ben to have fun and enjoy each other.
There is a beautiful metaphor in here about leaving the shadows behind you as you look forward to your future together. Awwwww.
