It’s Stefanie & Robby. Raised, groomed, trained, and grown in our city, then thrust on to DC, destined for change and purpose. There are about 80 bajillion wedding parallels there, but I’ll let you draw them yourself.
So then, you’re here to read about their experience, relive their day and hopefully grab a spoonful of insight from me.
Let’s do it.
Morning prepping with the ladies is self evident. Fun, yet relaxed. Laid back, pretty, beautiful light. Dare I say picture perfect? Well, I just said it, so…
I have no clue what she’s laughing at. It might have been me. I always assume it’s me. Note, these images of the ladies are candids. They really are that cute and proper. They look like I set them up. I did not set them up. I did not.
Now, the dudes. Not so prim and proper. Not so chill. They’re crazy. This was his attempt at seductive. Safe to say, he did not nail it. He didn’t. He did not.
There’s nothing like a candid black and white photograph. We were discussing this in the office yesterday. It’s funny how removing information like color can really enhance the image. We came to the agreement that it simplifies the message. Politically, talk about your vision, not Bill #AQ1-45C1/2×3. Love me a good vision 😉
I’ve never seen Bridesmaids so focused as when they’re prepping a bride’s dress. I feel like if I’d stepped in between her and her fastening #squadgoals, I would have been up one black eye 😀
These are a few of my favorites from the day. The light was perfect. She’s beautiful. Robby knows it. Always marry up, bro. Always.
Reading audience, meet St. John’s Cathedral. The architect and designer deserve a beer. I don’t think they’re in apt physical state to consume said beer, but I hope they had their fair share. I love this place.
Let’s play “Where’s Vince” Extra points if you scream the answer. Silent smirking is certainly encouraged, but how badly do you want extra points?!
Awesome ceremony. Nothing dull or ho-hum about it. I like to wait for the little exchanges. The moments between moments. Like on the right, above.
Pretty sure the Priest approves, even though he may look like he has a problem with this particular reading.
Take notes. Bubbles done right. I’m proud, wedding party. Damn-it, I’m proud.
^^Image of the Year alert! They made the Top 21. I’m not surprised. Stefanie & Robby’s taste is quite classic. You can see it in her dress. You can see it in the Rolls. Gorgeous car.
Fall. Color. Can’t. Be. Matched.
During our Creative Session, the couple popped a surprise on the Party. We headed over to The Velvet Tango Room for drinks. Not just any drinks, though. They actually have the forethought to have custom drinks all prepared for the Party. It’s the little touches that make real friends. Actually, it moves you from friends to Friends. “I’ll be there for youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu…..”
Posing with aforementioned custom drink.
Goofballs.
City Hall Rotunda. Fitting, to say the least. A regal, DC couple’s day wouldn’t be complete without columns and an American Flag. ‘Merica.
Killer set up. Like I needed to say that. I’m glad we made a little time to capture these images!
Ohio4Eva. If that’s not a hashtag, it is now. Tag ’em if you follow ’em and tell ’em we told you to.
Take a closer look, here. The couple had a private first dance. It’s an awesome idea. I love how everyone is watching from the 2nd floor. I love how they’re all silhouetted against the stone whilst the couple shares a moment or two alone.
A microcosm of marriage. A quick study. Robby, seeking direction or verifying it’s ok. Stefanie sneaking a bite in the meantime. This is why I love what I do.
Goofballs.
Stefanie and Robby asked us for suggestions on a live band. It’s pretty typical of us to help our couples out in areas like this. We know everyone around here. We know who’s the best. We’ve experienced a lot. Make sure you ask us. This is one of Rock the House’s bands. They rocked the house.
Goofballs.
Whether mingling, dancing, or high-fiving the air, everyone here is having fun. You can see the high-fiving guy, right? He’s just left of dead center, facing away. I hope he landed that high-five. He may still be standing there, waiting.
In all seriousness, or as much as I can muster, thank you Stefanie & Robby. Our team had a blast serving you. Sometimes I wonder who is serving who. It’s a great place to be. So is DC, but we’re oh-so-happy that you decided to share this momentous occasion with us in the Forrest City. Ya goofballs.
The Lawyer and the Lobbyist.
Could be a John Grisham novel…. “A DC lawyer uncovers a plot hatched by a connected business lobbyist to marry her. Little does he know, she’s got a plan of her own….”
