The Art and Story of Tobie + DJ
Iconic. It’s a word the metropolitan at the 9 uses often to describe weddings and wedding receptions at the 9 metropolitan hotel in Cleveland, and I couldn’t think of a better word to describe Tobie and Dj’s rooftop wedding at the 9. It was a privilege to be their wedding photographer, and in getting to know this amazing couple [ whom, I would also describe as Iconic ] I am pleased to present to you some of my very favorite pictures from their wedding at the metropolitan at the 9.
We always step it up a notch here at Making the Moment [ we’ve never been ones to simply “show up and shoot” a wedding ] and I can confidently say that the wedding photography I captured for these two is among my very best as an artist. From my romantic and intimate close veil shots we produced in the alleyways of cleveland, to the close and cuddly wedding photography at the vault, I’m proud to say this is one of my favorite weddings to date.
Meet Tobie and Dj. More than just a hella good looking bride and groom.
Meet DJ. His quiet and steady composure is matched only by his strong and steady stare. And his lion paw tattoo; you can’t get outdo a man who has a lion tattoo 🦁
See an extra set of hands there? I do too. DJ has four arms.

Men stare at eachother sometimes.
Men grab hands sometimes.
Ladies do make up in the mirror sometimes [ men do too sometimes, but ladies do it better ]
”Everyone from Making The Moment was so amazing! Truly everyone we worked with was so nice and did such an incredible job!

In Their Own Words.
That’s right. Every word you’ve read on this page so far regarding this wonderful wedding [ catch the alliteration there. Pretty brilliant, right? ] has all been word-smithed and crafted by us [ we’re not only gifted wedding photographers, but also not too shabby in the content writing department ] Humble Brag / Self enthusiasm aside; we mean every word on this page, but it’s important that you hear from our couple too.
We asked a few questions of them about their wedding; and hope you enjoy their answers 😀
What did you love about your wedding?
Our favorite parts of the weekend were just being with all of our family and friends, our first look, and being able to celebrate with everyone we love!
What would you do Different?
There is actually nothing we would have done different! We are so happy and lucky to have found and hired all of our amazing vendors and everything was so perfect and amazing!
What was it like to work with us?
Everyone from Making The Moment was so amazing! We absolutely loved working with Dennis for both our engagement pictures and the wedding! Truly everyone we worked with was so nice and did such an incredible job!
What photograph(s) are connecting emotionally?
So far we love the picture of us under my veil and then fist bumping during the ceremony!
Did you have a theme you were trying to hit for your wedding [ vibe / color palette / etc ]?
Our colors were black, white and gold and we wanted a classic, elegant, gatsby vibe!
And the craziness begins 😀. I love a good bridal party; why keep it tame?
I also LOVE a good veil image. The never “veil” to impress. OMG I’m sorry. Dad joke alert 🚨
We did their first look on the rooftop of the 9 [ the same rooftop where their wedding ceremony at the 9 would be later that day ].
With friends and family onlooking the two shared their vows privately [ semi-privately as I was sitting underneath them the ENTIRE time ].
It was weird at first but they totally tuned me out.
I wasn’t under them the whole time. That would be weird as F. It was only like 10 minutes or so. 🤷♂️
Want to have a nice connection point on your wedding day? I 100% recommend doing a private vow exchange either before or after your wedding ceremony. It gives you both a nice chance to connect and covenant to eachother what you most want from your marriage.
It also gives you a nice chance to weep and sob privately while your photographer captures some great candid wedding photography.
Groomsmen wedding photography or Boy Band Cover? You decide.
I seriously always think DJ’s Nephew is levitating in this picture.
Iconic.
I don’t “vault” you if you think this is the best wedding photograph in the world. OMG I’m sorry. I can’t stop myself.
I promise; no more vault puns. You’ll be “safe” with me.
Rooftop ceremonies at the 9 would be another reason you should host your wedding at this amazing cleveland wedding venue.
That, and vault puns for your photographer.
It was perfect weather that day; you can’t beat having your wedding ceremony on a rooftop in cleveland.
Married!
Yes, you need to light up letters proclaiming your new last name at your wedding.
If nothing else so your drunken friends can re-arrange them to say different things throughout the evening. What words can you make up with A R S L A N I A N ? You’d be floored by the options [ subtle reference pun ]
Maybe these drunken friends can help us?
Wedding receptions at the 9 are no joke; they get real. FREAKING real. Speaking of weddings at the 9; have you seen our entire webpage devoted to the venue??
I have no idea what she’s so excited about, but maybe she’s saying “HOLY COW THESE ARE GOING TO BE THE BEST WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHS EVER OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG”
This guy is definitely into older woman. I respect it.
You know it’s a baller wedding when your friends lift you off the ground.
