This late summer engagement session was everything I love about what I do! A young couple in love, lots of laughs and silliness, in some of my favorite locations. Penina + Chance’s wedding is coming up FAST, but luckily we still had the opportunity to snag some really fun images together.
Engagement sessions are a great time for me to get to know my couples and start creating that bond before the wedding day. And you know what else helps to bond you? Braving one of the hottest evenings together, and looking good doing it 😎 “Cause oh, oh those summer niiiiiights!” 🎶
Right off the bat, I can’t wait to tell you about this location! It’s one of my favorites for engagement sessions. And you’ll never guess where it is…

Behind a Chipotle 😋🌯
After a quick guac🥑 break [ jk, there was no guac break😭 ], we continued with our ultra cool [ also jk; it was 95 degrees out🥵 ] session.
One thing I am not kidding about at all, it was actually 95 degrees outside ☀️
But you’d never know it! These two handled the heat like champs and we they got through the session without breaking a sweat 😃

That’s right. Every word you’ve read on this page so far regarding this wonderful wedding [ catch the alliteration there. Pretty brilliant, right? ] has all been word-smithed and crafted by us [ we’re not only gifted wedding photographers, but also not too shabby in the content writing department ] Humble Brag / Self enthusiasm aside; we mean every word on this page, but it’s important that you hear from our couple too.
We asked a few questions of them about their wedding; and hope you enjoy their answers 😀
What was one of your favorite parts of your session?
Brett was so friendly and made us laugh and smile naturally, while still maintaining proper professionalism. We loved the location he picked out, and he was able to create several different “vibes” within the same small area.
How did you pick your outfits for your session?
Brett and Katie advised us on how to dress and we really worked from there. The most helpful advise they gave was “dress like you’re going on a first date.” We tried to pick outfits that complemented each other without matching.
How did you feel about the way we treated you throughout the session?
We felt really comfortable, like Brett wanted to learn our story and share it through his work, not just fit us into a generic pose.
What are you most excited about for your wedding?
Being married to each other, of course!
If you could describe your partner’s performance during the session in a few short sentences or phrases, how would you do so?
Literally a super model! He was so fun and flirty! He really made me feel comfortable and it added to the overall experience. It felt like one of our regular date nights.
Where will your wedding reception be, and why did you select your venue?
Our wedding will be at La Centre in Westlake. It’s a beautiful venue, and one of the only options for how many attendees we plan on celebrating with.

Penina’s smiles are all 100% genuine.
And so is that sky! Dusk is such a perfect time to create some epic artwork.
You know what we haven’t talked about yet??
The fact that these two had their engagement session only a few weeks before their wedding day!
While not the schedule we typically work with, you can definitely see their anticipation and excitement for the big day!
And their brand of silliness definitely corresponds with ours 😃
Also, a moment of appreciation for Chance’s hair. Because honestly, I’m jealous.
